Research Type: Colorectal Cancer
Project Description
Colorectal cancer is the third most common type of cancer and second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in North America. The amount and distribution of body fat and muscle have been linked to the risk of cancer recurrence and reduced survival. This project uses routine medical scans to measure the volume and location of body fat and muscle in an ongoing clinical trial of
colorectal cancer survivors. We will test if physical activity can help to maintain muscle and reduce overall body fat to improve survival after cancer.
