Research Type: Colorectal Cancer
Project Description
One in three colon cancer survivors has elevated blood sugar (prediabetes), increasing risk of diabetes when blood sugars can no longer be maintained in a healthy range. Colon cancer survivors with diabetes experience more side effects from chemotherapy and have worse survival rates than those without diabetes but exercise can help manage blood sugar levels. Dr Brown is testing if exercise and continuous measurement of blood glucose can improve chemotherapy completion and improve outcomes.
